URC Warranty & RMA Policy

Limited Warranty and Disclaimers

Warranty Periods

URC provides the following warranty periods for equipment purchased directly from URC or an authorized URC dealer or distributor :

  • Standard URC Equipment: Warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase by the end-user, but no longer than twenty-four (24) months from the date of shipment by URC .
  • Total Control® Whole-House Products: Warranted for two (2) years from the date of purchase by the end-user, but no longer than thirty-six (36) months from the date of shipment by URC .
  • Speakers: All in-ceiling speakers have a limited lifetime warranty , which includes lifetime parts and repair labor on all components .
  • Batteries: Batteries included with equipment have a warranty of one (1) year from the date of purchase from an authorized URC dealer .

General Conditions

The warranty extends only to the original purchaser of the product and is not transferable to any subsequent owner. This limited warranty is valid only in the United States of America. URC’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing any component found defective under normal conditions of use with an equal and/or current product. In the event of any warranty claim, URC will, at its sole option, repair the equipment using new or comparable rebuilt parts, or exchange the equipment for a new or rebuilt unit .

Exclusions

This warranty does not cover :

  • Equipment purchased from other than an authorized URC dealer or distributor. URC specifically excludes equipment sold by unauthorized resellers .
  • Products that have been abused, modified, or disassembled .
  • Damage from misuse, neglect, or acts of nature .
  • Product issues due to commercial use, third-party installation, misuse, limitations of technology, or modification of any part of the URC equipment .
  • Equipment sold as used, as is, refurbished, so-called “B stock,” or consumables (such as batteries) .
  • Instances where the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from the equipment .

With the exception of URC’s IR-only consumer remotes, none of URC’s PC programmable remotes or Total Control® equipment are authorized for online internet sales. Purchasing these products online means buying equipment that does not have a URC limited warranty and is not eligible for tech or software support .

How to Obtain Warranty Service

All URC equipment returned for service, exchange, or repair requires an RGA number. To obtain an RGA number, you must complete a Return Request Form, which can be obtained by calling (914) 835-4484 or by contacting URC at returnrequest@urc-automation.com. To receive warranty service, the end-user must deliver the URC equipment freight prepaid, in its original packaging or packaging that provides adequate protection, to URC at 37 Ramland Road, Unit 104, Orangeburg, NY 10962. A dated purchase receipt, bill of sale, installation contract, or other verifiable proof of purchase is required. It is the end user's responsibility to back up any programming, artwork, or software, as it is likely that such data will be lost during service, and URC will not be responsible for any such damage or loss .

Limitations of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL URC BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND OR LOSS OF PROFITS OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, EVEN IF URC IS ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL URC BE LIABLE FOR LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO DATA, COMPUTER SYSTEMS OR COMPUTER PROGRAMS. URC’S LIABILITY, IF ANY, FOR DIRECT DAMAGES OF ANY FORM SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL DAMAGES, NOT IN EXCESS OF AMOUNTS PAID BY END USER FOR THE URC EQUIPMENT.
