Google Nest Warranty & RMA Policy

Limited Warranty

Nest Labs, Inc. (“Nest Labs”) warrants that the enclosed Nest-branded product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the specified Warranty Period. This warranty is transferable from the original purchaser to subsequent owners, but the Warranty Period will not be extended for any such transfer. If the product fails to conform to this warranty, Nest Labs will, at its sole discretion, either repair or replace the defective product or component, or accept the return and refund the money paid .


Warranty Periods

Standard Warranty

  • One (1) Year: Nest Thermostat E or a Nest Temperature Sensor .
  • Two (2) Years: For any other Nest Product .

Extended Warranty (with Nest Pro Installation)

The warranty period is extended if the product is sold to you and installed by a Nest Pro who enters a valid Nest Pro ID during setup .

  • Nest Thermostat E: Extended by an additional two (2) years .
  • Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Protect: Extended by an additional three (3) years .

Factory Refurbished Products

  • The warranty period for a factory refurbished product is one (1) year, even if installed by a Nest Pro .

Total Satisfaction Return Policy

If you are the original purchaser of the Product and are not satisfied for any reason, you may return it in its original condition within thirty (30) days of the original purchase and receive a full refund .


How to Obtain Warranty Service

Before making a claim, the owner of the Product must visit nest.com/choose-your-country/support during the Warranty Period to provide notice of the warranty claim and describe the alleged failure. The owner must also comply with Nest Labs’ return shipping instructions. Nest Labs will bear all costs of return shipping to the owner, except for any Ineligible Product .


What is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover Ineligible Products, which include:

  • Products marked as “sample”, “Not for Sale”, or sold “AS IS” .
  • Products subjected to modifications, alterations, tampering, or improper maintenance or repairs .
  • Products subjected to handling, storage, or use not in accordance with the User’s Guide or other instructions .
  • Abuse or misuse of the product .
  • Breakdowns, fluctuations, or interruptions in electric power or the telecommunications network .
  • Acts of God, including lightning, flood, tornado, earthquake, or hurricane .
  • Consumable parts, including batteries, unless damage is due to defects in materials or workmanship of the Product.
